The reason that they are going to your site is because on the very page you are sending them to there is an advertisement for the very same paint which goes direct to the site of the company selling the product. Should the reader then purcase some paint, you get yourself a nice commission, all from simply writing an article.

Another example would be that you have a website which is all about worm farms. Not only do you have a massive amount of information on your site but you also sell your own worm farms. So at the end of your article all about the mating habits of worms, you include a link back to your web site asking the person to click on it simply to find out more information. Now you are not wanting them there just to buy your worm farm or leave, what you are offering is to email them with worm related information once a week or fortnight etc. So they agree and sign up to your mailing list expecting quality information.  This of course you provide as well as subtly advising them of the sale you are having at the moment, does this start to make sense.
